Panoramic views over San Cassiano, La Villa and Badia
Starting from the historic La Crusc church, take the “Chinesc”, i.e. path no. 15, from behind the church on the right.
The walk begins with the spectacular trail below the Sasso Santa Croce mountain range, which marks the boundary of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park. The path leads through dense woodland with occasional panoramic vistas over the Gardenaccia mountain group, with its famous Sassongher peak, part of the Puez-Odle Nature Park, and the Sella massif; in the distance you can also see the Marmolada, known as “The Queen of the Dolomites”, and Setsass.
Once out of the forest, the vegetation quickly thins out to leave room for the “viles”, the typical Ladin settlements, and wide meadows used for grazing and haymaking. From here you descend towards La Villa, following a path linking the viles of Rüdeferia and Cianins. Continuing in the direction of Badia, you can choose to pass through Oies, where you can visit the church and birthplace of the Ladin saint Ujöp Frëinademetz.
From Oies you then take the quiet path no. 13 that leads directly into the village of San Leonardo with the parking area for the La Crusc ski lifts.
