Walking in a sea of adventures in La Crusc
The Armentara Meadows are more than just a hiking destination in the Dolomites: they are a whole world. A world of scents, colours and emotions in a sea of green, dotted with brightly coloured flowers. They are a microcosm encompassing some of the richest flora and fauna in Südtirol and indeed Europe, where such rarities as arnica and anemones bloom alongside spruce, larch and stone pine forests, where protected bird species such as the three-toed woodpecker, pygmy owl and black grouse all live and coexist in harmony.
The Armentara plateau is a concentration of blossoming, animated beauty that extends over 280 hectares at between 1,670 and 2,050 metres above sea level: it is protected under the European Natura 2000 project to safeguard its biodiversity. There are wonders accompanying every step, to be admired and experienced, along paths that lead to the heights of adventure at the foot of Sas dla Crusc... and beyond. Leisurely walks, mountain-bike rides or hikes let you discover the natural world of Alta Badia and sample its flavours in the nearby mountain refuges... until the coming winter, when the meadows will once again be transformed into a white wonderland for plenty of fun in the snow!
